Meet the CREATE Tasmania team
I’m Tenielle, I have been with CREATE for almost two years running YAG, YCT and Connections events.
I have now taken on the role of State Coordinator whilst Kylie (our previous State Coordinator) is on Maternity leave.
I am super excited about my new role, I am extremely passionate about creating a better life for children and young people in care and look forward to working with you all in 2013.
I recently made the change to Tassie from Western Australia and haven’t looked back. I come from a Youth Work background and have worked in the Community Services Sector for 6 years. I love working with young people and helping them to grow. I am so encouraged by the awesome work the Tassie team do here and also the huge amount of youth involvement is very inspiring. I am extremely excited to be joining this hardworking team and hopefully making a difference in young people’s lives.
Hey Guys and Gals,
I’m Bel and I’m back!
I worked with CREATE in 2010-2011 and it was awesome. So, I’m really excited to be back on the team for 2013!
I will be running Speak Up and YAG’s around Tassie. I will also be organising some wicked fun connection events.
Can’t wait to see some old faces and to meet some awesome new ones!

Charter of Rights for Children and Young People in Care
The Charter of Rights sets out the rights of all children and young people in care in this state. The Charter talks about what you can expect from people who look after you and work with you while you are in care. If you feel like your rights are not being met, you should talk to an adult you trust like your carer or caseworker, or call the numbers listed on the Charter of Rights. You could also try calling CREATE in your state on 1800 655 105 to talk about your options. Some useful links:
Outta Here: Your Options, Your Choices, Transition from Care (TFC) Kits
Transitioning from care to adulthood should be a positive and empowering experience. To begin your journey to independence, it helps to know where you can find useful information and support. The Outta Here Kit is packed with information about support services and general knowledge that you will need to know when you leave care. There is stuff in there about further education, employment, managing money and sharing accommodation.
In Tassie every young person in statutory care 15 years and above is entitled to receive a kit. Your caseworker should arrange a kit for you. If for some reason you miss out on a kit or you have questions about transitioning from care, call your local DHHS Child Protection Office, or call CREATE on 1800 655 105.
Youth Ethics Framework for Tasmania
December has seen the launch of the Youth Ethics Framework for Tasmania. It's a great initiative by the Tasmanian Government and essentially is a voluntary guide for individuals and organisations working in the youth sector in Tasmania to support ethical and appropriate practice, also encouraging consistency. Our Christmas Party in December was absolutely amazing!
We had so many activities happening including jumping castles, snow cones, drumming workshops, laser skirmish, face painting and the list goes on and on!
Can you believe we had over 500 people attend the event again this year!
A huge shout out to all of our wonderful volunteers, Young Consultants and of course all of our partners who contributed to the event, you are all amazing.
We hope you all had as much fun as we did!
