Summit key messages and dinner
The Summit dinner, held at The Star Room overlooking Darling Harbour, was not only a chance for the young people to celebrate; it had a serious side.
Guests comprised senior government representatives from across the country, including Ministers responsible for child protection in two states, several Commissioners for Children or Children’s Guardians, National Foster Care organisations, many child welfare agency representatives and members of the business community, including many of CREATE’s corporate sponsors.
The following was showcased at the dinner . This proved a highlight because of the clarity of views, the solutions proposed and the power of young people’s own voices, which were crafted into a simple, strong message: children and young people in care deserve equal opportunities to other Australian children and young people. The case for change cannot easily be ignored in the face of such testimony.
