About the CREATE WA Team

Sahba Salekian

Position: State Coordinator
About Sahba:

I consider my job a privilege; the work for the children and young people energizes me and inspires me to make sure their voices are heard, their views are shared and their presence are valued.

I am the mother of two. Enjoy playing with my two nieces ,Emilia and Sophia, and I believe every child and young person deserves to be treated with love, respect and share fair of opportunities.

I have studied sociology, psychology and counselling at uni and love to learn more on daily basis.

I love to read, run and on sunny days I ride to work (very refreshing)!

Maryka Mulder

Position: State Community Facilitator
About Maryka:

My name is Maryka but people call me Meeks! I completed my degree at Murdoch University in Community Development and politics. I have volunteered for many years – and I was able to organise some amazing camps and events in which amazing race with 60 teen agers were one of them! During this time I was able to encourage young people to be more active in their local communities. I am in my element when I am out and about connecting with young people, and allowing them to find their voice, and just really giving them the space to be what they can be! I am currently an active board member at National Council of Women of WA where I head up the Young Women’s Division. I LOVE working with the different groups of people and young women!
I also have over 70 pairs of shoes, love KFC, netball and hanging out with my little sister.

Kelly Venables

Position: State Community Facilitator
About Kelly:

I have recently graduated from a double degree in Contemporary Performance and Education, and am crazily passionate about empowering young people and helping them achieve their dreams. I love being an advocate and working for an organisation that is committed to making a difference. In the past I have facilitated and created several programs that seek to build upon young people’s self-esteem, self-worth and accountability. These kids are our future, and they deserve to feel as though they belong and are cared for, I am committed to making this happened. I think the beach, yoga, laughter and making the most of every moment are the keys to an amazing life. I read magazines backwards, don’t like mushrooms and asparagus, sing in the car and have always wanted to dance in the rain.

Bunbury- THE RINK

Maryka organised a killer event in Bunbury. Roller skates, 90’s music and a colourful array of costumes, including afros, bellbottoms and bee-hives, what more could you ask for. Huge thanks to Maryka for putting on another incredible event, Sahba and Kelly for their support and of course our wonderful young people who welcomed the new comers with open arms and open hearts.
